LA Wall Art

Mural art in Los Alcazares!

Every time we visit LA; there are new murals to be discovered. Sometimes we spot them while driving through the village, other times I’ll go and look for them by bicycle. Our current visit (June 2024) is no exception, this is one I found close to our home:

To give you an impression of the sheer size of it, here’s the building:

This being one of my favorites yet, I threw it on FaceBook. One of the reactions I got was that there seems to be a wall art festival planned for this weekend (7 – 9 June). So we’ll be out finding them!

Notably, my post got commented with the phrase ‘More graffiti’. I’m not a fan of graffiti but I consider this art and not graffiti, wall art to be more precise. I do like boring blind walls on buildings to be decorated this way. I may not like every subject or style but all of them display a true sense of art and craft.

So: Let’s have more of that!

The negative comment got only one ‘Like’ while my original post got lots of likes. So it seems most folks in LA like the murals as opposed to graffiti tags.

Previously on this site, I had pages with many of the murals on display throughout LA. Most of these got lost when I transferred this site to another provider. I’m aiming to get them back online again.
