DIY – Home modifications

Here I will share mods to our house that will improve comfort.

  • Add a door to your washing-room and turn it into a real room!
Our apartment is located on the second floor and sports a sun terrace on the third. From the washing-room, there’s an open staircase to the terrace. As the washing-room is the place where our washing machine lives, we’d like to have a door between the room and the stairs. No problem for our contractor, they put in an aluminum door in the same color as the rest of the house and equipped it with security glazing. If you didn’t know better, you’d swear it was original!
    Something like this:

  • As we did not fancy the bidet in our master bedroom, we had it removed. The plumber took it out and plugged the holes where the sewer and running water had been. After this, the space left is just suitable for a cupboard for storing towels, etc.

  • In order to not be eaten alive by the mosquitoes at night, we ordered nets in every room. The nets consist of an aluminum frame, painted in the same color as your window frames, with a sturdy net. The frame runs in the slides already fitted on every window frame so installation is a piece of cake!
